    Pictured Rocks

    Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore hugs the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It’s known for the dramatic multicolored Pictured Rocks cliffs. Unusual sandstone formations like Miners Castle and Chapel Rock define the park’s headlands. Twelve mile Beach has a trail through a nearby white birch forest. Remnants of shipwrecks dot the shoreline around Au Sable Point’s 19th-century lighthouse.

    Soo Locks: Sault Ste. marie

    The Soo Locks are a set of parallel locks which enable ships to travel between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. The natural barrier made it necessary for the construction of the Sault Locks, a project known as the St. Mary’s Falls Canal.

    TAQUAMANON FALLS

    The Tahquamenon Falls are two different waterfalls on the Tahquamenon River. Both sets are located near Lake Superior in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The water is notably brown in color from the tannins leached from the cedar swamps which the river drains. The upper falls are more than 200 feet across and drops approximately 48 feet.

    Amish Community

    For various reasons, Michigan has been a state that has attracted Amish settlement.  At the same time, numerous Amish settlements in Michigan have gone extinct.  Despite its significant Amish population today, Michigan ranks as the state with the highest number of extinct Amish settlements, with at least 14 in its history.

    Upper Michigan has one of the most extensive trail networks in the whole state. Trails are easily accessible from our farm so bring your sleds, go for a ride and come home for a hot dinner and a cozy bed.
